Taibon Sankajo (大犯三箇条)

Taibon Sankajo refers to the fundamental authorities of Shugo (provincial constable) in the Kamakura and Muromachi bakufu (Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun). It was codified in Goseibai-shikimoku (code of conduct for samurai).

Authorities of Shugo

Shugo had the following three authorities.

Remind of Oban (guard)
Trial for rebellion
Trial for murder

Authorities after the Period of the Northern and Southern Courts

Then, Obanyaku (a job to guard Kyoto) was abolished during the Period of the Northern and Southern Courts (Japan), and the conventional interpretation of Taibon Sankajo had been changed.

Trial for murder
Trial for night attack burglars, bandits, and pirates
